Celebrating The Spirit Of Love

Teddy Bear Day, Rose Day, Chocolate Day, Father’s Day, Mother’s Day, Valentine’s Day — each of these days are linked with a particular emotional feeling. In this age of commercialization business strategy evolves around the precious emotion on the earth---LOVE.

Jeweler shops to shopping malls, restaurants to multiplexes, spas to lifestyle showrooms----celebration of love is in full swing. Whether going for a long drive & candle light dinner or opting for a romantic movie with the loved ones ---lots of confusions are there with the couples whose eagerness is on high altitude with the approaching of this special day.

Giving your partner gold as gift, courtesy to light jewellery collections from various jewellery stores or presenting yourself in a completely new look by going for a makeover to your special man or woman is also very warm as V-day gift. Cards & chocolates & red roses are yet to lose their appeal as traditional & heart touching gifts in this crowd of unique ideas of presents.

Age of celebration of V-day in India is not too old. To some, it is only blind imitation of Western culture ---a kind of hype created by media & commercial industries some see it as a true expression of peace & love. “Today the world is too much filled with hatred & revenges. So what’s wrong if a celebration spreads message of much needed love in this situation?”— opines Manas, working in a private firm in Delhi. There is different view point also like –“A specific day for spreading & showing love through gifts & parties won’t going to change the mindset of warring nations & countries. Lovable & peaceful 365 days a year are terribly needed in the present scenario”—conveys Dibakar , an MBA student.

But is this celebration of peace & love totally peaceful in India? Not really because of the presence of moral polices in every nook & corner of the society. A country where people are habituated with spitting & urinating publicly appears at daggers drawn in time of public display of love. What a paradox!

Still we should welcome this special day with a warm heart. We must ensure that Cupid does not fail in his effort. So do  overlook the fiery eyes of society , forget about westernized culture, try not to remember the issues of inflation & price hike of everyday commodities for this  single day --- just go for red rose to express yourself – to celebrate the spirit of love  because ---‘‘love’s like a red, red rose.”
